Methodology

Read the signals clearly

A plain-language guide to the evidence, activity, and review behind the index.

The index separates what is observed, what people do, and what is editorially reviewed so each comparison can be read with context.

See how rankings work

Evidence

Relevant sources provide context for why a cultural tension matters. Evidence is checked for relevance, source quality, and whether it supports the claim being made.

Signals

Signals are observable indications of attention or change, including discussion, public coverage, and related cultural activity.

Momentum

Momentum measures the direction and pace of change. A fast rise can matter even when total activity remains modest.

Participation

Votes, evidence submissions, and discussion show how people engage with a clash. Participation informs the picture; it does not replace source context.

Editorial review

Editorial review clarifies the comparison, checks that supporting material is relevant, and removes content that does not meet policy.

Ranking and confidence

Ranking combines activity, evidence, momentum, quality, and recency. Confidence indicates how much supporting context is currently available.
